Espolòn Reposado Tequila

Espolòn Reposado is a 100% blue Weber agave tequila crafted in the highlands of Jalisco at the Casa San Nicolás distillery. Founded by master distiller Cirilo Oropeza, Espolòn was created to celebrate Mexican culture through both its liquid and its striking label art, which draws inspiration from the work of José Guadalupe Posada and the country’s history of independence and identity.

The Reposado expression is aged for six months in new American oak barrels, striking a balance between youthful agave brightness and the added depth of oak influence. Bottled at 40% ABV, it delivers a smooth yet expressive profile. On the nose, it shows cooked agave, vanilla, butterscotch, and light spice. The palate is rounded and approachable, with flavors of caramel, roasted agave, baking spice, and a touch of pepper layered over a medium body. The finish is warm, balanced, and slightly sweet, with lingering vanilla and oak.

Espolòn Reposado is designed to be versatile—smooth enough for sipping neat, approachable on the rocks, and dynamic in cocktails such as Margaritas or Palomas where its oak-kissed character adds depth. It captures the ethos of Espolòn: a tequila that is authentic, expressive, and accessible, offering quality craftsmanship rooted in Jalisco tradition while carrying a vibrant, modern identity.

Tasting Notes

Espolòn Reposado Tequila is crafted from 100% blue Weber agave and aged in American oak barrels, giving it a golden hue and layered complexity. On the nose, it reveals aromas of roasted agave, caramel, and a touch of vanilla, balanced by hints of spice and toasted oak. The palate is smooth and rounded, with sweet agave at the core, accented by notes of butterscotch, baking spices, and a subtle smokiness from the oak. Medium-bodied and well-structured, it carries both warmth and finesse. The finish is long, silky, and slightly spiced, leaving behind caramelized agave and oak-driven depth.

Food Pairings

This reposado’s balance of sweetness and spice makes it a versatile partner at the table. As a starter, pair it with ceviche, grilled shrimp skewers, or quesadillas with roasted peppers. For a main course, it complements carne asada, roasted pork with chipotle glaze, or chicken mole. With cheese, it works beautifully with manchego, queso añejo, or lightly smoked gouda. For dessert, it pairs harmoniously with flan, cinnamon-dusted churros, or vanilla bean ice cream, where its caramel and spice notes enhance sweet indulgences.
