La Gritona Reposado is a small-batch, 100% blue Weber agave tequila made in the highlands of Jalisco under the direction of master distiller Melly Barajas, one of the few women leading a tequila distillery in Mexico. It is a tequila built on authenticity, independence, and craft, designed for those who want a spirit that refuses to be overly polished or manipulated.
The agaves used for La Gritona are harvested after eight to ten years of growth, slow-cooked in traditional brick ovens, naturally fermented, and double-distilled in copper stills. The reposado expression is rested for eight months in reused American whiskey barrels, which impart subtle oak and spice without overwhelming the natural agave character. The result is a tequila that remains fresh, vibrant, and true to its raw materials. Bottled at 40% ABV, it carries a smooth yet bold profile.
The flavor is honest and direct—ripe cooked agave balanced with hints of vanilla, caramel, and light oak, alongside earthy and herbal tones that speak to its highland origin. The finish is clean and persistent, highlighting agave rather than masking it.
La Gritona’s distinctive green bottles are hand-blown from recycled glass in Guadalajara, reinforcing the brand’s dedication to sustainability and artisanal values. Each batch is limited and carefully overseen, making it a tequila that reflects both tradition and the individuality of its makers.
It stands apart from mass-market tequilas by refusing additives or shortcuts, offering drinkers a spirit that is unpretentious, honest, and deeply connected to Mexican heritage and craft.
