Tasting Notes

Sazerac Rye (Fall 2024 Release) is Buffalo Trace’s beloved Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey, often referred to as “Baby Saz.” Aged for around 6 years, it balances rye spice with a smooth, approachable profile. The nose opens with aromas of vanilla, honey, and light caramel layered with baking spice, citrus peel, and gentle oak. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and flavorful, offering notes of toffee, cinnamon, clove, and pepper balanced by sweet corn, citrus, and herbal rye character. The texture is smooth yet lively, showcasing both sweetness and spice. The finish is medium to long, leaving lingering notes of caramel, oak, and peppery rye spice.

Starter Smoked almonds or charcuterie with spiced salami, highlighting the rye’s nutty and spicy backbone.

Main Course Grilled pork chops or pepper-crusted steak, where the whiskey’s spice and caramel lift savory flavors.
