Don Cenobio Sauza was among the first to identify and market the spirit as “tequila” and to export it beyond Mexico, helping establish its global recognition. His son, Don Eladio Sauza, expanded and modernized the distillery, strengthening tequila’s role in Mexican culture during the early 20th century. The third generation, led by Don Francisco Javier Sauza, championed higher quality standards and worked to secure the official Tequila Denomination of Origin, ensuring authenticity for generations to come.
