Don Cenobio Sauza is recognized as one of the pioneers of tequila. He was among the first to identify the spirit by the name “tequila” and to export it internationally. His son, Don Eladio Sauza, expanded production and modernized the distillery during the early 20th century, ensuring tequila’s growing role in Mexican culture. The third generation, led by Don Francisco Javier Sauza, introduced innovations in both agriculture and distillation, and played a key role in securing the Tequila Denomination of Origin, protecting the authenticity of the spirit worldwide.
